Women seek representation

Kathmandu, February 5:

Women from all walks of life today said there should be proportional representation of women in all sectors for national development.

Inaugurating a women’s club established by the Women’s Academy, Supreme Court Judge Sarada Shrestha said development is impossible without women’s participation in decision-making bodies.

Sashi Shrestha, central committee member of the Janamorcha Nepal, said in every social revolution, there is proportional representation of women. “In political sector, too, there should be proportional representation of women so that they can enjoy their 33 per cent reservation,” she added.

Dr Arzu Deuba said women were lagging behind in politics though they were marching ahead in all other sectors.
