Wongchhu writes to foreign ministry

Kathmandu, December 18

Wongchhu Sherpa, who has levelled human trafficking allegation against Nepal’s Ambassador to Australia Lucky Sherpa, today wrote a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting investigation into the matter.

Wongchhu, former driver of the ambassador, stated in the letter that he brought the matter to public to ‘save the life’ of his wife who has been judicial custody in Nepal in connection with the case. “My wife is innocent and she is in prison for the last eight months. She is facing mental and emotional torture there,” he stated in the letter.

Wongchhu also stated that they were being threatened that their daughters would be kidnapped after he refused to withdraw the case. The foreign ministry said it was working to ascertain the truth regarding the allegation against the envoy who arrived in Kathmandu on December 9 after the ministry summoned her.

Wongchhu has accused the ambassador and her husband of human trafficking, saying he had collected money for them from some people promising them safe passage to Australia.
