Workers’ problems will be resolved, says labour minister

Kathmandu, July 2

Minister for Labour and Employment Farmullah Mansur said today that the government was serious towards resolving the problems of labourers.

Speaking at a programme organised here today by Kathmandu chapter of Nepal Trade Union Congress to mark the 94th birth anniversary of late Nepali Congress leader Girija Prasad Koirala, the minister said the government was sensitive to the demands of labourers and would make utmost efforts to alleviate their plight.

NTUC central treasurer Yogendra Kunwar said promulgation of the new constitution was the outcome of workers’ struggle. ”

Kunwar also urged the government to ensure the rights granted to workers by the constitution.

NTUC leader Surya Nepal said as the Nepali Congress was established on the foundation of labour movement, the party should be sensitive to the workers’ plight.
