Summer time means bringing a beach vibe to the cocktail list. Travel & Lifestyle selects three well stocked bars in town and brings their amazing cocktails for you to try out during the long and often hot summer afternoons

A twist to the trendy

The stocked to the brim bar at Hotel Yak & Yeti, Durbar Marg has the old world charm. As the temperature rises they have incorporated their ‘happy hour’, buy two get one free offer from 11 am to 7. 30 pm every day.

Long Island Iced Tea

A mixed cocktail drink, The Long Island Iced Tea is made with tequila, vodka, light rum, triple sec, and a splash of coke which gives it the same amber hue as its namesake.


A cosmopolitan, informally called a cosmo is a cocktail drink with vodka, triple sec, sweetened lime juice and cranberry juice. It tastes as good as it sounds savvy.


The name itself intrigues many customers to indulge in it. This summer cocktail is a mix of blue curacao, vodka, crushed ice and the likes. It is served without being stirred because it will lose its spectrum of blue to lime to yellow.

A tropical spin

Shangri-La Hotel in the midst of the city offers Kathmanduties a respite from their daily humdrum. Their brimming bar has a varying range of drinks, from cocktails to mocktails and more which are available for a discounted price this summer.


This popular drink is a traditional Cuban highball, a group of drinks made of a base spirit and a larger proportion of a non-alcoholic mixer. The white rum, soda, fresh mint, lemon wedges, mint syrup and crushed ice all cook up a cocktail meant to beat the heat.

Piña Colada

This Malibu rum based cocktail is certainly well-known. With pineapple and coconut cream this sweet cocktail is served blended or shaken with ice and primly garnished with a pineapple wedge or a maraschino cherry.

A touch of intrigue

The Corner Bar at Radisson Hotel Kathmandu certainly has its own appeal. Patrons enjoy a few mellow drinks at the bar watching sports or conversing, which further accentuates its ambience. The start of the season is marked by the Corner Bar with reasonable rates for all cocktail drinks.


The concoction is a cocktail consisting of tequila, triple sec, and lemon juice, often served with salt on the rim of the glass. It is a highly recommended cocktail and manages to keep you high on life.
