Nepalaya launches Kul Chandra Gautam's memoir

KATHMANDU: Satya Mohan Joshi unveiled Kul Chandra Gautam's memoir 'Global Citizen from Glumi' published by Nepalaya publications amid a special ceremony in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The book unfolds Gautam’s journey from a remote village in Nepal, lacking schools, roads and electricity, from a humble beginning to become Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The author, Kul Chandra Gautam expressed optimism that the book would be fruitful to younger generation frustrated with the contemporary scenario in the country.

"Gautam has reflected on an era where when there were no schools in his native district."

On the occasion, Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali, the native of Gulmi district, said, "The book reflects Kul Chandra Gautam's contribution and strong determination while serving at UN and UNICEF," adding his experience and determination would be equally beneficial for Nepal after his retirement.

Likewise, Labour Minister Gokarna Bista another native from Gulmi said, "He has immensely contributed to the world and for that, I thank him on behalf of the denizens of Gulmi."

Likewise, UN residential ambassador to Nepal Velari Juliarad said, "The book highlights Gautam's various contributions during his time at the UN headquarters and other regions of the world."

At present, Gautam is an active member of civil society and is serving the nation with his wealth of experiences.

Meanwhile, the publisher said, the paperback edition is priced at Rs 895 and the hardbound edition is available at Rs 1,395. Likewise, the book will also be released worldwide on Kindle and POD (print on demand) through Amazon.com.
