Jhamsikhel — the paradise of restaurants welcomes the latest newbie in the vicinity — Thai Ghar.  Enter into its fusion setting — the walls plastered with traditional oil lamps and a chandelier made of Jack Dainel’s bottles swings from the ceiling.

Occupying two floors of a renovated house, the first floor has the bar area with a little stage set for live music. The seating area is perfect for those who want to sip and enjoy some amazing tunes. The second floor has sofas, a few tables and chairs and a low seating area.

Our guest, Menuka Pradhan, entered complaining about the traffic, but as she sipped a soothing mocktail, she was all relaxed. When the food arrived, her mood got much better:

Tomyam soup

A Thai dish nobody can resist. The spicy, clear soup is made with home-made tomyam paste prepared by the chef herself.

Menuka’s Verdict: “ The taste is very authentic. The lemongrass dominates the flavour. It is tangy and spicy like it is supposed to be.”

Green Curry

One of the widely recognised dishes from a variety of Thai curries. The  Thai curry combines coconut powder ,fresh green chillies, green curry paste and fish sauce.  Egg plant has been used along with shallots, garlic, lemongrass and coriander.

Menuka’s verdict: “ Very authentic.

I like that they have chosen eggplant as it goes perfectly with the creamy texture. The sweet flavour is given by the coconut powder, simply delicious!”
