Veteran artist Hira Lal no more
KATHMANDU: Veteran artist Hira Lal Dangol is no more. Dangol breathed his at 4:30 pm on March 17 at Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital. He was 77.
Dangol was one of the artists who painted birds for American ornithologist Robert Fleming, who published the book Birds of Nepal in 1976, a pioneering book on the species of birds found in Nepal.
His youngest son Ishwor, who is also an artist, informed, “He was admitted to Vayodha Hospital, Balku two weeks ago as he complained of stomach pain. After a week at Vayodha Hospital, he was transferred to Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital as he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in the last stage. He suffered from gastric problems and was taking medicine for the same, but we did not know that it had gotten worse.”
He was cremated on March 18 at Pashupati Aryaghat, Pashupati at 8:30 am.
Dangol is survived by his wife, four daughters and two sons.
