KATHMANDU: Author and journalist Vijay Kumar Panday and social activist Angurbaba Joshi were conferred on the Madan Puraskar and the JagadambaShree award respectively at a special function in Lalitpur today.

The famed journalist received the most prestigious literary award of the nation for his autobiography Khusi.

Likewise, the veteran intellectual Joshi was awarded for her significant contribution in promotion of education for women and development of Nepali language and literature.

Each of the prizes, established by the Madan Puraskar Guthi, has a purse of Rs 200,000.

Former Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal conferred the awards on them.
