Photo Gallery: Capital's streets flood with Dahal-Nepal supporters protesting House dissolution

Kathmandu, December 29

Seen in pictures below are Nepal Communist Party (NCP) cadres of the Dahal-Nepal faction led by former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal as they march during a mass protest against dissolution of the Lower House of the parliament, denouncing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's move, in Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

Thousands of supporters of the splinter group rallied in the capital demanding ouster of the prime minister and reinstatement of the parliament he dissolved amid an escalating feud in the party.

On December 20, PM Oli recommended the dissolution of House of Representatives, which was promptly approved by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, while also announcing that mid-term elections would be held in April-May, 2021. This created much chaos within the political sphere of the country and put the Prime Minister’s and President’s intentions into questioning.

Furthermore, the uncalled move of dissolving the House has ushered much flak and widespread condemnation for PM Oli.
