KATHMANDU: A person died on the spot and two others sustained injuries after a tractor they were travelling on fell below the road in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1 of Okhaldhunga district on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as local resident Nabin Luintel (20). The injured have been as Pushkar Luintel, also a local resident and Jharke Rai of Phikkal Rural Municipality-6 in Sindhuli district.

The incident occurred when the speeding tractor (Na 6 Ta 4698) lost control and fell about 15 metres below the road in Balkhu, killing Luintel and injuring two others at 10:00 pm yesterday, according to Police Constable Binod Khadka at the District Police office, Okhaldhunga.

The injured duo were rushed to the health facilities in Kathmandu for further treatment, informed the District Police Office, Okhaldhunga.

Local police have impounded the vehicle and search for the driver is on who fled the scene. The driver was also partly injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
