1 dead, 4 injured as bus plowed into crowd in Besisahar Bazar

BESHISAHAR: A person died and four other sustained injuries after a micro-bus plowed into crowd of people in Besisahar Bazar of Lamjung district on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Shree Kumari Gurung of Bhujung in Kwahola Sothar Rural Municipality-4 in the district.

The incident occurred when the over-speeding Bus (Ga 1 Kha 2473) en route from Kathmandu to Besisahar plowed into the pedestrians in Old Bank Chok of Besisahar Bazar, critically injuring Gurung and four other yesterday evening, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Padam Bahadur Bista, chief at District Police Office, Chitwan.

The critically injured Shree Kumari succumbed to her injuries on the way to the health facility in Pokhara, informed police.

Among the injured, Mamata Gurung is sent to a Pokhara-based health facilities for treatment, whereas, other three injured, Roshan Gurung, Angani Ghale, Dichha Ghale are being treated in the Besisahar-based Community Hospital, informed police.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway and search is on for the bus driver who fled from the scene, said DSP Bista.
