KAILALI: A man died and seven others sustained injuries after a microbus hit a bicycle in Lamkichuha Municipality-8 of Kailali district along the East-West Highway Thursday morning.

Police have identified the deceased as cyclist Pancharam Chaudhary (65) of Lamkichuha Municipality-9.

The incident occurred when the micro-bus (Bhe 1 Ja 635) en route from Nepalgunj to Dhangadhi hit the cycle Chaudhary was riding while crossing the road, critically injuring him, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hari Bahadur Oli, at the District Police Office, Kailali.

Injured Chaudhary succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital, informed police.

In the accident, seven passengers travelling on the micro-bus also received minor injuries and have been undergoing treatment at Ratna Hospital, Tikapur, added DSP Oli.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the vehicle and detained the driver for further investigation, said police.
