KATHMANDU: A person died on the spot and another sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a truck in Shivaraj Municipality-1 of Kapilvastu district on Tuesday night, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Mubsara Khatun (24) and injured as Atikul Rahman (27) both residents of Balrampur of India.

According to police, the incident occurred when the Indian registered scooter (UP 55 U 0481) was hit by the truck (Na 2 Kha 9960) at the Surainaka Bridge at 12:15 am last night, killing pillion rider Khatun and injuring motorcyclist Rahman.

The injured Rahman was rushed to the Chandrauta-based Sanjivani Hospital where he is undergoing treatment, informed police.

Meanwhile, the Chandrauta-based Area Police Office has impounded the truck and detained its driver for further investigation.
