RATNANAGAR: A person died after a being struck by  an unidentified vehicle in Khairahani Municipality-1 of Chitwan district on Monday.

The unidentified man who seems to be in his mid 50s was found critically injured in the road at Tarkari Chok  yesterday night, informed the District Police Office, Chitwan.

He succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital in Bharatpur for further treatment, informed police.

During the preliminary investigation, police assumed the deceased was cyclist after they found a cycle and a helmet in the accident site, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Thapa, at the Chitwan District Police Office.

However, in the lack of any further evidence in the incident site, police are unable to ascertained the nature of the vehicle that was involved in the accident, DSP Thapa added.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
