CHITWAN: A person was killed and another was seriously injured after a scooter they were riding on was hit by a minitruck in Tikauli Ban in Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City of Chitwan district this afternoon.

Chitwan District Police Office identified the deceased as Suraj Karki (24) of Rapti Municipality-9. Karki who was seriously injured in the accident breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Bharatpur-based College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital.

The pillion rider, yet to be identified, is unconscious after the incident and undergoing treatment, added police.

The minitruck (Ba 2 Ka 1602) heading to the west along the East West Highway and the scooter (Na 36 Pa 6827) had collided head on.

Police said they have impounded the vehicle and rounded the driver for further investigation.
