DAMAULI: One person died and 10 other sustained critical injuries when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Yampa Phant of Bandipur Municipality-4 along the Prithvi Highway on Tuesday.

According to the District Police Office, Tanahun, the deceased was the conductor, a permanent resident of Deurali, Khansikuwa VDC, of the bus.

The identity of the conductor is yet to be ascertained, police said.

Critically injured conductor was rushed to the Dumre-based Laxmi Hospital but breathed his last during the course of treatment.

The body has been kept at the Damauli Hospital for autopsy.

The bus (Na 4 Kha 5383) was heading towards Damauli from Muglin when the incident occurred this morning, police informed.

Anita Nepali (20) of Byas Municipality-11, Damanti Maya Pokharel (50) of Harmi, Gorkha, Anita Bhjuel (32) of Bandipur Municipality-5 and Sannani Bhujel (19) among others, who were injured in the accident, are receiving treatment at the Laxmi Hospital.

Police suspect that the incident might have occurred due to over-speed.

Police said that they have impounded the bus and arrested its driver for investigation.
