1 killed, 4 injured in Dhading truck plunge

DHADING: A man was killed and four others were injured after the truck they were travelling on met with an accident in Chyandu along the Malekhu-Dhading road section of Dhading district on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as truck owner Gokul Upadhyay (26) of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality, currently residing in Nilkantha Municipality in the district and injured as Bainsh Bahadur Tamang (38) of Lamjung, driver Rajkumar Shrestha (38) of Tripurasundari Rural Municipalty, Mohan Gurung (26) and Isha Tamang (27) both of Nilkantha Municipality in the district.

The incident occurred when the pebbles-laden truck (Na 3 Kha 6143) en route from Malekhu to district headquarters Dhadingbesi plunged around 10 metres below into Chyandu Khola at 10:00 pm yesterday, injuring five persons, according to police.

Among the injured that were rushed to the Dhading-based District Hospital, Upadhyay, Shrestha and Bainsha Bahadur Tamang were later referred to Kathmandu-based National Trauma Centre after the preliminary treatment there, informed District Police Office (DPO), Dhading.

However, Upadhyay breathed his last the same night during the course of treatment at the Centre while Shrestha is in critical condition and has been undergoing treatment in ICU there, said Dhading DPO.

Whereas, the remaining two have been receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Dhading.
