12 cops, one protestor injured in Bharatpur clash

CHITWAN: At least 13 persons including one transportation worker have been injured in a clash on Wednesday at Bharatpur Central Bus Terminal.

Agitated transportation workers in protest of restriction on movement of three wheelers imposed by the municipality attempted to burn down a police beat located at District Administration road forcing the police to retaliate, Chief of District Police Office, Chitwan, Superintendent of Police Sushil Singh Rathore said.

According to Rathore, police fired 10 rounds in the air and tear gas shells to contain the angry mob. Likewise, police have detained 14 protestors, he added.

The protestors who obstructed vehicular movement since 12:00 pm had torched a motorcycle and pelted stones at the police personnel.

City authorities had enforced a restriction on movement of three wheelers along the East-West Highway, Bypass Road and Narayangadh-Muglin road section effective from July 23.
