DHANKUTA: As many as 1,206 candidates have registered their nominations in Dhankuta for the  upcoming second phase local elections.

The district will elect 314 local representatives for seven local levels that comprise 60 wards. Sources at the Office of the District Election Officer said 44, 42 and 250 candidates have filed their nominations for the post of local level chief, deputy chief and ward chairperson respectively for the district.  “Of them, while four women’s nominations have been filed for the first position at the local level,

30 women are vying for the post of deputy mayor or vice-chairpersonin local bodies,” said information officer Keshav Poudel at the District Election Office. Meanwhile, though parties had filed nominations on Sunday itself, the election office made public the names only this morning.
