138,202 security men for assembly polls
Kathmandu, September 1:
The government has planned to mobilise 138,202 security personnel for the security of the constituent assembly polls, Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula said at a programme today.
Speaking at a two-day orientation programme on CA election security organised by the ministry, Sitaula said the government would mobilise 40,168 personnel of the Nepal Police and 21,934 personnel of the Armed Police Force (APF).
Sitaula said the government will hire 76,000 temporary police personnel for the CA poll security. The Nepal Police will hire 70,000 temporary policemen whereas the APF will hire 6,000, Sitaula said. Temporary policemen will be given 15-day training, which will be completed by October 17.
“Nepal Police and temporary police will provide security to polling booths whereas APF personnel will look after the overall security of the elections,” Sitaula said.
