RAUTAHAT: A 14-year-old Dalit girl has fallen prey to rape in Bishrampur-9 of Rautahat district on Tuesday.

Police informed that Manoj Ram (18) of the same vicinity raped the girl while she had gone to answer the call of nature in a maize field.

Ram fled the scene following the incident.

The victim's family lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Garunda on Wednesday though Ram's family tried to persuade the victim's family to settle the issue in the village.

It has been learnt that Ram's family had offered money to the victim's family to not to take the issue out of the village.

Police Inspector Santu Lal Jaiswar informed that they are searching for Ram.
