15 injured in Doti jeep accident

KATHMANDU: At least 15 persons, who were attending a marriage procession, were injured when the jeep they were aboard turned turtle in Doti district on Saturday evening.

The injured have been identified as the groom Deepak Tamrakar of Jidoti, Latamandau-2 and his bride Kumari Tamata of Jidoti, Kafalleki-4 including 13 others whose identifications are yet to be ascertained, said Police Constable Narayan Mahar of District Police Office, Doti.

The jeep (Se 1 Ja 747) was carrying 16 passengers when it went out of control and turned turtle while making a steep turn at Ujeli, Latamandau-3 in the district at around 7 pm, said police.

Meanwhile, 10 injured persons including three critically injured have been rushed to a health institution in Dadeldhura district for the treatment while five others are at Rajpur-based Phujang Hospital.

The investigation into the case is underway and the search is on for the jeep driver who lost contact after the incident, police said.
