Over 1,534 nominations in Kaski

A total of 1,534 candidates have filed their nominations for local elections in Kaski.

The district comprises one metropolis and four rural municipalities.

As for Pokhara Lekhnath metropolis, a total of 865 candidates, including independent ones, have filed candidacy for different posts. According to sources at the regional election office in Pokhara, 17 and 11 candidates have filed their candidacy for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor respectively for the metropolis with a total of 168,067 registered voters.

The metropolis has a total of 33 wards, from where 207 candidates are vying for the post of ward chairpersons.

For the rural municipalities, as many as 669 candidates have filed their candidacies for various posts. While five and three candidates have filed their nominations for the post of chairperson and vice-chairperson from Madi Rural Municipality, as many as eight candidates are vying for the post of chairperson in Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality. Here, six candidates have filed nominations for the post of vice-chairperson.

Similarly, while seven and five candidates are running for the posts of chairperson and vice-chairperson from Annapurna Rural Municipality, seven and four candidates have filed their candidacy for the post of chairperson and vice-chairperson from Rupa Rural Municipality.
