17 families shifted after landslide
Pokhara, September 4:
Family members of 17 households were shifted to safer places this morning, as a crack appeared in the land following a landslide at Paharepani and Mandhredhunga of Kaskikot VDC-8 in Kaski last night. Thirty-three other households are at risk.
According to technical assistant at Kaskikot VDC Indra Bahadur GC, they were shifted with the help of locals, police and leaders of various political parties. The entire village slowly began to flush away after a dozer started digging the ground in the winter for construction of the agriculture road, said the locals. “In the first place, our landscape is sloppy and secondly there was heavy downpour,” said a local resident Chin Bahadur Devkota. Kalika secondary school is also under threat of landslide.
