19th PU senate meet passes budget

Pokhara, July 19

The 19th Senate meeting of Pokhara University chaired by the varsity’s Chancellor Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today approved a budget of Rs 862 million for various plans and policies.

Of the total budget, Rs 272 million has been kept under capital expense while Rs 590 under general expense. The meeting endorsed an eight-point proposal on policy, financial, physical, educational and administrative areas of the varsity.

Speaking at the Senate meeting, Chancellor of the varsity, PM Oli stressed the university should be developed as a think tank based on new thought and should produce skilled human resources. He also extended the government’s help to advance technical education as mentioned in new national education strategy.  The meeting also endorsed a policy of running the university and its constituent colleges and university’s six-year strategic plan and academic enhancement. The meeting decided to allow its constituent colleges to run programmes under only one stream.
