2 dead as tractor falls off Jumla road

JUMLA: At least two persons were killed after the tractor they were travelling on fell bellow the road in Manisanghu of Guthichaur Rural Municipality-1 of Jumla district on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Lalit Dharala (17) of Talium of Chandannath Municipality-8 in Jumla and Bhim Bahadur BK in his late teens of Kuse Rural Municipality-7 of Jajarkot district, both assistant to the driver, according to Police Constable Rajendra Sunar at the District Police Office, Jumla.

The incident occurred when the tractor (Bhe 1 Ta 7386) en route to Jumla from Chaurikot of Dolpa district, fell around 60 metres below the road while attempting to give side to another tractor coming from the opposite direction in Manisanghu, killing both assistant on the spot, informed police.

The bodies of the assistant were found crushed in the river, 60 meter below the road after the accident, however, the driver Ramesh Damai allegedly escaped to the safety by jumping off the vehicle, police stated.

The body of the duo have been kept at the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Jumla for postmortem, police added.

Meanwhile, the driver have been detained for further investigation, said police.
