KATHMANDU: Police on Friday said two persons have been detained, in suspicion of carrying explosive devices to Kathmandu, at Khanikhola, along the Prithvi Highway, in Dhading district.

Speaking to THT Online over the phone, officials at the Khanikhola police station said a two litre pressure cooker fitted with wires and two socket bombs were recovered from a dickie of a passenger bus (Na 7 Kha 4976) during a regular security check.

Acting on a tip-off police frisked a passenger bus and arrested two Indian nationals, this morning.

Police suspected that the devices were being brought to Kathmandu to create terror and havoc among the voters and candidates.

It has been learned that the bus was heading to the Capital from Kakarbhitta.

Meanwhile, police declined to reveal the names of the suspects citing investigation.

Recently, Udayapur-2 candidate for Parliament Narayan Karki and District Student Union leader Meera Katuwal sustained serious injuries in an ambush attack in the district.

With the second phase of House of Representatives and State Assemblies elections on the door steps, attacks on candidates have soared up.
