2 die while demolishing quake-hit house in Sindhupalchok

KATHMANDU: Two elderly men died while demolishing a house damaged by the April 25 earthquake and its aftershocks in Kunchok village of Sindhupalchok district on Wednesday.

DSP Bishwa Adhikari, chief of District Police Office (DPO), told THT Online that Dambar Bahadur Neupane (82) and Ganesh Bahadur Thapa (87) died while demolishing the house of Khil Bahadur Neupane in Kunchok-5 of the district.

While Neupane had died on the spot, Thapa had succumbed to injuries while being rushed to a local health facility.

One Bal Bahadur Neupane (84) from the same village sustained critical injuries and is undergoing treatment at the Dhulikhel Hospital in Kavre, Adhikari added.

The incident occurred at around 12:30 pm, according to the official.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old girl was buried to death while demolishing a cracked building in Bidur, Nuwakot district headquarters, police said.

Sangita Tamang from Gerkhu-7 of Nuwakot was demolishing the building of Farm House Hotel in Bidur Municipality-2 of the district.

Two other workers – Kiran Raj Kharel (45) and Shreeram Budhathoki (23) were – injured in the incident, according to police.

Both were referred to Kathmandu after primary treatment at the Trishuli Hospital.
