203 kg marijuana seized, destroyed in Makawanpur

RATNANAGAR: The Chitwan-based Gadhimai Battalion of Armed Police Force confiscated and destroyed a huge cache of marijuana in Makawanpur district on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, a patrol squad deployed from the battalion confiscated the marijuana from Dabrang village in Raaksirang Rural Municipality-6 of Makawanpur yesterday, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raju Pandey of the Battalion.

The team, under the command of Sub Inspector of APF Narayan Prasad Itani, seized 203 kilogrammes of marijuana packed in 14 sacks hidden inside the local shed, added DSP Pandey.

The confiscated marijuana was destroyed on the same day in the presence of DSP Pandey of the Battalian, Police Inspector Rameshwor Tawati of the Bhandara-based Area Police Office, Ward Chair Jallu Chaudhary of Rapti Municipality-6, and journalists.

Police have been destroying marijuana in Dabrang village on multiple occasions. They had recently destroyed marijuana planted in more than 15 Bigaha in the area about one month ago.
