207 voting centres ‘highly sensitive’ in Saptari

Security has been beefed up in Saptari in view of the second phase of provincial and parliamentary polls slated for December 7.

A meeting held at Saptari DAO today decided to keep 207 voting centres in the list of ‘highly sensitive’ polling centres and 88 voting centres as ‘sensitive’. SP Mukesh Kumar Singh said voting centres were categorised on the recommendation of the District Security Committee.

In Constituency 3, 77 voting centres have been kept in the ‘highly sensitive’ list, while 17 are in the ‘sensitive’ list. Likewise, 32 and 48 voting centres have been included in the ‘highly sensitive’ and ‘sensitive’ list in Constituency 1. Constituency 2 has 68 and 45 ‘highly sensitive’ and ‘sensitive’ voting centres respectively. Voting centres in the constituencies connected with border points have been categorised as ‘highly sensitive’.

SP Singh said besides Nepali Army personnel, around 4,000 personnel of Nepal Police and APF would be deployed in the district.
