21 child workers rescued from Dang workplaces

DANG: As many as 21 child workers were rescued from separate places of Dang district and were handed over to their parents and guardians amid a programme, in Dang, on Thursday.

Children under the age of 14 working as labourers in hotels and restaurants, grill industries, construction sites, meat markets and stone crushing industries were rescued, informed Nawaraj Lamichhane, a child activist in the district.

Under the Child Labourer Protection Programme, Tulsipur Municipality rescued them and arranged re-integration programme with their families.

Furthermore, the parents of the children were also provided with a financial support of Rs. 8,000 each and were requested to spend it wisely for their economic benefits.

Small business like grocery shop, pig or goat farming was suggested, said Municipality Executive Officer Topendra KC.

Likewise, stationary items were also awarded to the children.
