Dang bus accident death toll reaches 23

DANG: The death toll from bus accident at Ramri of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-3 that took place on Friday has reached 23 with the death of Birendra Kandara (20) of Kankasundari Rural Municipality-5, Jumla.

According to Bel Bahadur Pandey, a resident of Dang, Kandara breathed his last in course of treatment at Nepalgunj Nursing Home this morning.

Meanwhile, identities of six others deceased have been ascertained. They are Kusum Rawal (16) of Chandannath-6, Jumla; Atish Nepali (17) of Bheri Municipality, Jajarkot; Khem Raj Bhatta (17) of Krishnapur-5, Kanchanpur; Hikmat Bohara (19) of Chandannath-3, Jumla; Kabita Khatri (21) of Babai Rural Municipality-5, Dang; and Shailaja Shahi (17) of Hima Rural Municipality-5, Jumla.

Bodies of 22 killed in Dang road accident kept at Rapti Zonal Hospital

DANG: The bodies of 22 people who died in a road accident in Ramri of Tulasipur Sub-Metropolis-3 on Friday have been brought to the Rapti Zonal Hospital.

The deceased include four women and 18 men, according to Chief of Area Police Office, Tulsipur, Jeevan Shahi. The identification process will begin soon.

Fifteen others who were seriously injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at Kohalpur Teaching Hospital.

The accident took place at 4:50 pm on Friday when the bus (Ba 4 Kha 9766) heading towards Tulsipur from Kapurkot of Salyan fell about 700 metres below the road, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prem Bahadur Shahi at the Area Police Office, Tulsipur.

The bus was carrying students and teachers of the Ghorahi-based Krishnasen Icchuk Technical School as they were returning after a study tour of the botanical garden in Mulpani of Kapurkot in Salyan district.

A total of 38 passengers were travelling in the bus, including 32 students of the school.

Of the deceased only five have been identified. They include the bus driver Madan KC (32) of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis-3, Pradip Ghimire (28) of the same municipality, Sanjit Rajauriya (30) of Dangisan Rural Municipality-1, Naresh Oli (28) of Rukum East and Bijaya GM (17) of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis-14, police said.

21 killed in Dang road accident

LAMAHI: Twenty-one people including three women died while 15 others sustained injuries in a road accident that took place at Ramri of Tulsipur-3 along the Tulsipur-Salyan road section.

The deceased are yet to be identified.

The bus (Ba 4 Kha 9766) was heading towards Tulsipur from Kapurkot of Salyan when it fell some 700 metres below the road, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prem Bahadur Shahi at the Area Police Office, Tulasipur.

The bus was carrying students and teachers of the Krishnasen Icchuk Technical School in Ghorahi, as they were returning after a study tour of the botanical garden in Mulpani of Kapurkot, Salyan.

It has been reported that eleven of the seriously injured were rushed to Nepalgunj while the remaining are undergoing treatment at Rapti Zonal Hospital.

Further details of the incident are awaited, police said.
