24 detained for power theft in Siraha

LAHAN: As many as 24 persons have been detained on the charge of electricity theft from various locations in Siraha district.

According to chief of the distribution centre Bishnu Prasad Yadav, a monitoring team from the Lahan-based distribution centre of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) detained those involved in tapping into the utility poles with hooks to steal electricity from various locations including Padiya, Matiyarwa, Barchhawa among others in the district.

The team has also confiscated power metre, fans, television sets and other electronic appliances.

Distribution centre chief Yadav added that the detainees were charged with the fine of Rs 260,000 under the Power Leakage Control Act.
