24 women rescued from eastern checkpoint

BHADRAPUR: Maiti Nepal Kakarbhitta has rescued 24 women from different places of India during the period of a year.

The periodic home of the organisation based in Kakarbhitta rescued women being trafficked to India on temptation in a year's period.

Maiti Nepal’s eastern regional coordinator Govinda Ghimire shared that the organisation also prevented 259 women from becoming prey to trafficking during the period.

Likewise, the organisation had also returned 91 women to Nepal from border after interrogation.

Ghimire further informed that the organisation also sensitised 16,113 drivers including that of bus, rickshaw and tempo on human trafficking.

As many as 1,869 adolescent girls who were moving to India for employment and study were sensitised on safe migration.
