26 undocumented Nepali workers return home from Malaysia

KATHMANDU: As many as 26 Nepali migrant workers working in Malaysia without papers on Wednesday returned home.

The Embassy of Nepal in Kuala Lumpur with the assistance of Foreign Employment Promotion Board (FEPB), Nepal, helped the stranded Nepalis to return home.

According to a statement released by the Embassy, they were stranded in various transit homes for not being able to afford the return ticket.

The Embassy said 15 people have returned home on an Air Asia flight (D7 196) and the remaining 11 on a Malindo Air flight (OD 182).

The Embassy also stated that 557 people have been deported to Nepal through the assistance of governmental and non-governmental organisations recently.

The arrangements to rescue and deport other stranded Nepalis from the detention camp are underway, read the statement.
