27 dengue cases reported in a week

The total number of patients affected by dengue has reached 27 in Dhading district alone within a week.

According to District Hospital, Dhading, dengue was detected in as many as 27 patients visiting various health facilities, both government and private, from Monday to Friday this week.

Medical superintendent of the health facility Dr Gaurab Mahato said the disease had been detected in at least 2 to 3 patients visiting the hospital on a daily basis, of late.

The increasing number of dengue patients has left residents of the district headquarters and its adjoining areas terrified. A team of health workers from Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control, Kathmandu has arrived in the district to raise health awareness and destroy mosquitoes larvae last Monday.

The team along with health facilitators, security personnel and social mobilisers has so far reached as many as 2,200 households of Nilkantha Municipality to take stock of the local health situation.

DPHO Chief Maheshwor Shrestha has said they were destroying mosquito larvae to control dengue.
