27 Indian pilgrims injured in Tanahun bus accident

DAMAULI: Twenty-seven persons have sustained injuries when a bus with an Indian registration fell off the road along Damauli-Dumre road section of Prithvi Highway in Tanahun district, Monday morning.

The incident occurred when the bus (UP 53 BT 4995) carrying Indian pilgrims -- en route to Muktinath in Mustang district -- lost control and fell some metres below the road at Kamalbari of Byas Municipality-12 in the district.

Three critically injured pilgrims were rushed to Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara for treatment, while 17 persons who sustained minor injuries are currently receiving treatment at local Ratnahari Hospital and seven others in District Hospital, Tanahun, stated Spokesperson at Tanahun District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Lilaraj Lamichhane.

Police further informed that search is going on for the bus driver who absconded following the incident.
