3 dead as landslide buries house in Gorkha

DAMAULI: As many as three persons including an infant were killed after they were buried by a landslide that occurred in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-6 of Gorkha district on Wednesday morning.

The landslide, which came crashing down onto the south wall of the house belonging to Nawaraj Kunwar, buried his son Unik Kunwar (8 months), daughter Prabina Kunwar (11) and his niece Saru Kunwar (21), according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bimal Basnet, Chief of District Police Office, Gorkha.

It has been learnt that the trio were sleeping at the time of the incident.

According to DSP Kunwar, police are preparing to send the bodies of the deceased to Gorkha Hospital for postmortem.

Similarly, local Padma Rana was buried under the landslide in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-7 that fractured her right leg, informed District Police Office, Gorkha. She has been sent to Kathmandu for treatment.

The incident site is located three kilometres away from the district headquarters.
