3 killed in Hetaunda bus accident

HETAUNDA: Three people died and at least 55 others were injured when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Handikhola VDC -2 on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Surya Lama (30), Binita Mainali (19) and Pranish Lamichhane (4), informed the District Police Office, Makawanpur.

The injured are being treated at the Chure Hill Hospital and Hetaunda Hospital.

It has been learned that there were more than 100 persons on board the ill-fated bus (Na 4 Kha 4307) when the incident took place.

The bus was heading towards Hetaunda Bazaar from Chakari-Makari when the tragedy occurred.

Police said that the overcrowded bus travelling uphill met with an accident as one of the rear tyres was punctured. The bus could not pull the load and came backwards.

To avoid accident, the driver tried to take the bus towards the wall, in the meantime, three persons were trapped and died.

Police said that they are looking into the incident.

Meanwhile, one person died and two others were injured in a bus accident at Jurikhet in Bhimphedi today.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Sharan BK (33) of Chitlang-6.

Critically injured in the incident, BK breathed his last on the way to Hetaunda, police said.
