3 VDCs of Upper Mustang face acute drinking water shortage

MUSTANG: Three villages in Upper Mustang are facing acute shortage of drinking water due to drought.

Khursang, Charang and Matang VDCs in Mustang district are reeling under acute shortage of drinking water. Consequently, villagers were found to have their mind set at migration from there.

The locals have been compelled to drink water of Kaligandaki River. They have to walk for hours to reach there to fetch water.

There are some 60 households in three VDCs.

Chairman of the Annapurna Area Management Committee, Kobang, Tej Bahadur Thakali, said that problem has also surfaced in Kobang and Lete areas due to drought.

Local Development Officer Hari Prasad Banstola said that drinking water project would be run in three VDCs of Upper Mustang in next fiscal year.
