30 CK Raut supporters detained in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: Police arrested activists supporting CK Raut, who has been reportedly demanding secession of the Madhes region from Nepal, from different places of Gaur in Rautahat district on Friday.

As many as 30 cadres and supporters of the Raut-led Alliance for Independent Madhes were detained from various places of Gaur when they staged demonstration today, according to the Rautahat District Police Office.

They had demonstrated near the District Land Revenue Office, the Shivashakti Enterprises and the Rastriya Banijya Bank Chok.

"Investigation has been initiated against the protesters, including the Alliance Coordinator Ashok Kumar Singh and his deputy Birendra Sah," informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Nabin Krishna Bhandari.

Meanwhile, Sah said from police custody that their protest was not against police, but against the discrimination and racist policies by the State.

Sah further said that they would object the arrest as they were in struggle to achieve their right.
