30-point education agreement inked between DEO, schools
Khotang, February 5
A 30-point agreement to enhance the quality of education was signed between District Education Office Khotang and public schools in the district yesterday.
The agreement was signed between District Education Officer Gyan Mani Nepal and head teachers of as many as 142 schools at a meeting on reforming academics, infrastructure, and management systems of the schools.
The meeting decided to develop a school reform plan and implement it in coordination with the school management committees, teachers, and guardians every year before July.
The agreement includes points such as creating a favourable atmosphere to enroll school-age children throughout the year, guaranteeing basic education to all, and providing teachers with necessary teaching aids, to name a few.
The meeting also decided to ensure that classrooms are free of dust, well-carpeted, and have beds for younger children. The agreement also stipulates that awareness of proper sanitation and hygiene must be increased among students, and schools must create a monthly report in this regard to evaluate students’ health and hygiene.
Stakeholders inked the agreement at a time when academic performance of public schools has sharply gone down.
