31 YCL cadres held with weapons
Rupandehi, April 9:
Police today arrested 31 YCL cadres along with weapons while they were going towards Butwal from Ranyaura of Rupandehi in a jeep.
The police seized one pistol, three rounds of bullets, four khukuris, 30 big sticks and an iron rod from the YCL cadres. Member of the Maoist-affiliated Abadh Rajya Samittee Madhav Sharma admitted that a few of the arrested were YCL cadres.
Meanwhile, three UML activists were injured at Hasaura of Shivamandir-1 in Nawalparasi when YCL cadres attacked them last night. Tanka Parajuli, Rama Kanta Chapagain and his mother were injured in the attack, the UML said.
In Kapilvastu, an unidentified group indiscriminately opened fire on Maoist district member Rajendra Tiwari at around 4 pm today in Bithuwa VDC, the Maoists said. Tiwari said the gang also exploded a bomb. Tiwari, however, escaped unhurt.
In Rautahat, a woman was injured in Pothiyahi VDC after JTMM-J cadres opened fire on APF men taking shelter in her house, police said.
YCL cadres thrashed RJP activist Padam Bahadur Poudel in Chanuwa VDC of Dhankuta on the charge of luring the voters with money. The YCL cadres also robbed Rs 40,000 cash and a CDMA phone set from Poudel. He is getting treatment in a local hospital.
In Pyuthan, an unidentified gang pushed NC cadre Salikram Sen from a steep slope in Rajabara-3. His condition is serious.
