3,700 cops to be deployed in Kavre for polls

The government is set to deploy 3,700 security personnel in Kavre for the first phase of the upcoming local election slated for May 14.

Personnel from Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and temporary police will be deployed across the district.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Nabinraj Rai at District Police Office, Kavre said additional security personnel could be deployed later if deemed necessary.

“As per the central security strategy, three to five Nepal Police personnel will be deployed at each voting centre,” said Rai, adding that some 560 APF personnel will be deployed in all 13 local bodies, including six municipalities of the district.

Each voting centre will have five temporary police personnel, while sensitive and highly sensitive voting centres will have six and seven temporary police respectively. In addition, around 1,000 NA personnel will be deployed on the outermost security circle at all local bodies, said Rai.
