374 conflict-hit children in Myagdi

BENI: As many as 374 children have been identified as the conflict-hit in Myagdi.

The data regarding the children affected by the decade-long conflict in the country was unveiled in a meeting of the authorities concerned held here on Wednesday under the convenorship of Myagdi's Chief District Officer and District Child Welfare Board Coordinator Tek Bahadur KC.

The data was collected by the Board.

The Board scanned through the statistics of children under 18 in a period of 1996 to 2006, according to district-based child rights activist Mithu Acharya.

However, not a single child was found affected with the conflict at Gurja, Lulang, Mudi, Marang, Shikh, Ghar and Histan VDCs in this period, she said.

Likewise, Arthunge is on the top of the list regarding the number of conflict-hit children and is followed by Jyamrukkot VDC.
