SUNSARI: Police have arrested four monks on charge of trying to take 14 Nepali children to India in unauthorised way from Sunsari district.

A team of police deployed from the Area Police Office, Itahari took under control the India-bound monks and the children from a bus in Itahari.

They had boarded a bus with registration number Na 5 Kha 5580 en route to Dharan from Birgunj.

The monks told police that they intended to take the children, aged eight to 14, to Deharadun to be trained as Buddhist monks.

The kids have been sent to the child shelter in Biratnagar for the time being.

Police said they are lookin into the case.
