43rd anniv of Rastriya Sewa Dal celebrated

Kathmandu, March 1:

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said today that the role of youths was important in nation building.

Addressing a function organised to mark the 43rd Anniversary of Rastriya Sewa Dal (RSD) at the Army Headquarters, he said: “Youths being the change-agent of the nation, they should be given the opportunity to move ahead with honesty, discipline and education.”

Rookmangud Katawal, chief of the Army Staff (COAS), said various indigenous nationalities and communities have been part of the Nepali Army (NA).

Speaking at the function, Katawal said the NA’s policy has been inclusive compared to other parts of the world.

Brigadier-General and spokesperson for the NA Ramindra Chhetri said all Nepalis who meet physical, mental and educational standards of international criteria to join the army would be given an opportunity in the Nepali Army. The Rastriya Sewa Dal was established in 1965 with the objective of bringing forth disciplined, honest and dutiful human resources in the country.
