46 quake-hit schools rebuilt

As many as 46 schools that were damaged in the 2015 earthquakes were reconstructed in Makawanpur in the last fiscal.
District Project Implementation Unit, Makawanpur, reconstructed 31 schools. The unit reconstructed five school buildings at Thaha Municipality, two at Bhimphedi Rural Municipality, three at Bagmati Rural Municipality, four each at Kailash Rural Municipality, Gadhi Municipality and Raksirang Rural Municipality, and six at Bakaiya Rural Municipality, among others. The cost of rebuilding 31 school buildings stood at around Rs 320 million.
According to engineer Sanjib Pudasaini of the unit, as many as 63 buildings were rebuilt in the previous fiscal. Reconstruction of 46 primary school buildings, 19 lower secondary and three secondary level school buildings are under way with financial assistance from the unit.
Similarly, reconstruction of 19 school buildings has started with grant and loan provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency. Likewise, Plan Nepal provided assistance to rebuild three schools in the last fiscal and CARE Nepal helped reconstruct four school buildings in the last fiscal.
