5 held on charge of human trafficking
CHITWAN: Police have arrested five persons on charge of involving in human trafficking activities.
The accused Sher Bahadur Chepang, his wife Bishnu Maya Shrestha, both from Kaule VDC in Chitwan; and Govinda Mahato, Buddhi Bhujel and Shani Pangeni from Madi Municipality were arrested on the same charge on different dates, police said.
According to a statement released by police on Wednesday, the Chepang couple handed over a 12-year-old girl to a man to traffic her into India.
However, the girl was rescued with the help of police and staff of Maiti Nepal from Kanchanpur on April 2.
Likewise, other three suspects were also arrested for their involvement in trafficking a 16-year-old girl to a brothel in India on April 11.
