RAJBIRAJ: Saptari police have arrested five people who were on the run after they were convicted of accusing a woman of being a witch.

Rajaram Mandal, Rameshwor Mandal, Dipak Mandal, Dukhi Mandal and Brahma Dev Mandal of Inaruwa VDC-5 in the district were arrested by a joint team of the District Police Office and the District Court on Wednesday.

Just on Tuesday, the Court had slapped each of them with a six months' jail term along with a penalty of Rs 5,000.

Immediately after the verdict from the Court, they had fled the scene and were on the run, police said.
